Here you go! Please comment!!!
For the team race it’s going to be really exciting and bonus points are going to be so important to help determine the team champ along with the other placers! Here are the teams I believe will be in the top 5 with their total count: Trion leads the way with 12 kids, both Holy Innocents and Mt. Pisgah with 10, Commerce with 9, and George Walton with 8. The issue with picking Trion to win is I don’t see them having 1 champ, but Commerce, Holy Innocents, George Walton, and Mt. Pisgah should all have at least a champ, but I still think Trion finds a way to win. Those 5 teams with be battling it out for sure! I believe team 2-5 will be really interesting with Holy Innocents, Commerce, Mt. Pisgah, and George Walton. I think Holy Innocents takes 2nd because they should have 2-3 state champs and will get a few calls . Followed by Commerce, Mt. Pisgah, and George Walton. With all that said George Walton could jump all the way to 2nd if they find a way to stay alive in the semi, but for the team race:
After watching Class A over the year and putting the data together it should be a fun tournament. As a whole Class A is down and some weight classes will have some 5/6th place kids that aren’t the best, but they did everything asked to place so cheer for them and wish them good luck because they might not see the podium next year so wrestlers, enjoy the moment! With that said there should be a lot of good semi matches that could go either way. I believe in a lot of weight classes the 2-4 kids are really close like within a point or two so those will be fun for the fans to watch. 126 and 220 will be the hardest weight classes to get on the podium. There are some must see match-ups in these weight classes. It’s funny how 2 big time “move-ins” are both in those 2 weight classes, coincidence? I think not!!
106: Westbrook put his time in during the offseason! 1. Westbrook-Wal 2. Batchelor-MDSA 3. Noble-Mtp 4. Nash-Comm
113: Should be some great semi matches, but Martinez is on a mission and wins easy! 1. Martinez-HI 2. Legg-Comm 3. Vaughn-Trio 4. Burnette-GL
120: Great finals match but I think Borom will win a close one. Top 2 in a league of their own! 1. Borom-SR 2. McDurmon-Darl 3. Boone-Mtz 4. Pierce-Ir
126: A lot of talent with 5 really solid wrestlers. Probably the toughest weight class. The top of the bracket is so tough!! Wouldn’t be surprised to see Flint, Nelson, or James in the final against Metz. All 3 are really tough, but Metz will win! 1. Metz-PC 2. Flint-Com 3. James-Trio 4. Nelson-Mtp 5. Jake Stone-GWA
132: Another great weight class. Semi will be fun! A lot solid wrestlers 1. Swink-HI 2. Bertrand-Mtp 3. Rodriguez-Atch 4. Mitchell-GWA 5. Willingham-IR
138: Top 2 kids are on a different level, but wrestle backs will be fun to watch in this weight class. A lot of solid kids 3-6 that are all within points of each other. 1. Walker-IR 2. Watson-NCC 3. Nugent-SAP 4. Spence-Mtp
160: Does anyone want to take on Bertrand?? 1. Bertrand-Mtp 2. Williams-IR 3. Evans-HI 4. Batemen-GWA
170: Should be an exciting finals match 1. Morris=GWA 2. Schmitt-Wesl 3. Bowman-Trio 4. Phillips-Comm
182: Dodder has improved by Frates wins hands down with bonus points! 1. Frates-Comm 2. Dodder-Mtv 3. Lewis-RMA 4. Gleeson-HI
195: No one can beat Burns in Class A, but maybe Lundy 1. Burns-Comm 2. Blankenship-Tec 3. Willbanks-Trio 4. Caldwell-GMC
220: Can Chesser hold off Cox’s blasted double?? Should be some great semi match-ups. Loaded weight class! Should be the best semi match-ups at 220 in years! 1. Chesser-RIMI 2. Cox-HI 3. Hammond-MOVE 4. Frates-COmm
285: LUNDY!! Hope we finish at 285 so we can cheer him off the mat and wish him good luck at FSU! 1. Lundy-IR 2. Bivins-Wes 3. Baker-Trio 4. Perez-Mtz
2018, you have been doing some homework! I agree with you on team results and in that order. I do think it will be very close. Holy Innocents should have several kids in the finals along with Commerce. I don’t think Trion will have many to win it but will place quite a few in the top three. That should be enough to win the team traditional. I recognize a lot of the names of the wrestlers you are picking to win their bracket but there are several names I don’t recognize that you are thinking will place. Who do you think are some newcomers that we can watch out for in the next few years?

Agreed with the team standings: Trion will just have too many kids placing for anyone to catch them, and HI has 3 solid finalist and a few kids that will wrestle for 3-6th. But it could be interesting because Love will have Commerce ready and if Mt. Pisgah comes out strong there are alot of match ups between these 4 teams that it could be close and fun to watch.
Based on my picks and including only 9th-10th graders. I feel the following will be fun to watch this weekend and many more years to come.
106: Roberson-Darly-might place 6th but if not you’ll see him next year. Westbrook-he’s been real tough all year. I could see him being 106 or 113 the next 2 years.
113: Vaughn-Trio-interesting to see how he does in a load top bracket Martinez-HI-He could be a 3xer! Dunlap-Irwin- just fun to watch
126: James-Trio: You saw him last year in the finals and he’ll for sure place high this year. Nelson-Mt.P-crazy resume and interested to see if he can come back after losing to Metz. Heard him beat Metz in the Area Finals.
132: Bertrand-Mt.p: I see him being like older brother!! Swink: HI: Will he be the next 4 timer in Class A???
145: Eller-trio: really impressed with him Cordeor-Darly: Can he win it again this year? 4 timer maybe??
170: Phillips-Comm: I want to see how he does. Wasn’t impressed at State Dual, but we’ll see how the 9th grader does against the upperclassmen this weekend!
195: Willbanks-Trio: Maybe next year he’ll get in the finals, but solid wrestler for a 10th grader!
Whew that 126 is a tough one. I have looked at it different ways, and that one is a hard one to call. It is going to come down to who wants it the most I think, because I know they have put the work in. Cant wait to see the outcome of this one.
