There is a plan. Calhoun has been open enrollment for years, they take any kid that shows up, while they’ve been accused of collecting athletes and keeping their numbers low. That’s now the plan. They’ll allow the athletes and restrict all others. Should get back down to AA pretty quickly, avoid the multiplier and have exactly the kind of program they’ve been accused of having. You’re welcome.
I already spotted a flaw in your thinking. You forget. Out of district students. There are already too many students that live in your school district to drop to AA. At best if you only allow out of district athletes into Calhoun, at best Calhoun stays in AAA. So unless Calhoun completely redraws it's school zone map, Calhoun will never drop to AA again.
Not so. Calhoun houses many special needs. That range is broad but tons are folks who don’t speak the language very well. When the school for them is completed, the OOD kids no longer there, Calhoun should be in the 600- 700 range. Allowing only athletes that play football, it might only increase that number by 5 or so. AA is very reachable.😎

So why count the non football players ?? Many more of them, that is fact.
This may come as a shock to you, but I agree. Why punish the football team because of the non football players? Here's the problem with your thinking. Let's say that Calhoun has 50 out of district students. Probably more, but for arguments sakes we'll say 50. Let's say that only 5 of them play football in 2020. Who's to say that 15 of them won't play in 2021? You can't reclassify every time a teams numer moves up or down as far as having out of district kids on the football team. And what about all the other athletic programs. You know some of these out of district kids also play basketball, baseball and all the other athletic programs. It's also unfair using out of district students on the debate team or any other non athletic competing team. The only true way to gage a schools unfair advantage is to count all out of district kids. Hell just because Joe/Josephine didn't play this year, don't mean they won't play next year.
The ODD count is well over 400.......that’s enough for 5 or 6 football teams. The problem is that they don’t play football.

thehammer: The only “sit out rule” the GHSA has is when a kid doesn’t make a actual address move into another district!

thehammer: if they move to an address in a new school district and live with legal parents or guardians they don’t sit out!

thehammer: The GHSA “sit out” Transfer rule only applies to kids that don’t move into new schools district! If they make a address change to the new district, actually live at new address with legal parent(s) or guardians they don’t sit out!
